Study plan - Electronic and Biomedical Engineering

The study plan contains the list of educational activities that the student must attend and must pass in order to be admitted to the final degree examination.

The educational activities included in the study plan are as follows:

  • compulsory courses
  • orientation courses
  • curriculum-track courses
  • free-choice courses
  • eligibility/qualification tests
  • internship / placement
  • final degree examination

CHOOSING THE STUDY PLAN

At the time of enrollment, the student intending to attend the Degree Programme in Electronic and Biomedical Engineering must choose one of the two proposed curricula:

  • Biomedical Curriculum
  • Electronics Curriculum

The Biomedical curriculum is designed to train graduates with in-depth knowledge in the design, development and management of biomedical systems and instrumentation, bioelectronic systems, advanced diagnostic and theranostic platforms, telemedicine systems and technologies for precision medicine.

The Electronics curriculum focuses on training graduates able to design, develop and manage electronic systems for ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) applications, for today’s and tomorrow’s industrial revolutions, industrial automation and autonomous systems, as well as sensors and sensor networks for IoT and IoE (Internet of Everything) systems.

COMPLETING STUDY PLANS

Upon registering for the third year of the programme, the student must complete their study plan by adding the “free-choice” courses and any “curriculum-track” courses, where applicable.

Completion of the study plan for students choosing the “BIOMEDICAL” curriculum

The “Biomedical” curriculum does not include tracks/specializations. The student must complete their plan by choosing from a pool of courses proposed and approved by the relevant Degree Programme Board as automatically approved courses, for which individual authorization is not required.

These courses are visible and can be selected independently in the student’s personal area via the online procedure. Once selected, they are automatically included in the study plan.

If the student does not wish to choose from the proposed exams, they may choose—subject to authorization by the Degree Programme Board—from among all courses offered by other degree programmes of their Department and/or University, provided they do not clearly duplicate learning activities already included in their plan.

As a rule, courses belonging to higher-level degree programmes are not admissible.

Courses not included in the selected pool are not visible or selectable independently in the personal area via the online procedure; prior authorization by the relevant Degree Programme Board is required, which will assess the suitability of the educational plan.

In this case, the procedure is paper-based and requires completing the PPS form, to be sent by email to the Department’s Administrative Teaching Support Office at ufficio.protocollo@unisannio.it. Completion of the PPS form is also required when the choice of courses is not limited solely to automatically approved courses but is mixed.

These courses will appear in the student record book only after approval by the relevant Degree Programme Board.

Courses not included in the study plan, or not approved, cannot be booked and therefore cannot be taken. For this reason, it is advisable to make selections in good time, preferably before the courses are delivered (see selection windows).

Completion of the study plan for students choosing the “ELECTRONICS” curriculum

The “Electronics” curriculum includes two tracks:

  • Automation Track
  • Sensors – Internet of Things (IoT) Track

The student must complete their plan primarily by choosing the track independently through the online procedure available in their personal area.

Once the track is chosen, the related courses are automatically included in the study plan.

In addition to choosing the track, the student must select the “free-choice” courses from a pool of courses proposed and approved by the relevant Degree Programme Board as automatically approved courses, for which individual authorization is not required.

These courses are visible and can be selected independently in the student’s personal area via the online procedure. Once selected, they are automatically included in the study plan.

SELECTION WINDOWS

There are two windows within which choices can be made:

  • first window: from 1 September 2025 to 15 November 2025;
  • second window: from 1 February 2026 to 15 April 2026.

Students may change their choices (track courses and free-choice courses) within the same academic year, but only exclusively within the above windows and according to the same procedures described.

For completing the study plan, it is also possible to recognize credits acquired in previous university careers.

Exams taken under Erasmus study plans and recognized by the competent Degree Programme Board automatically amend the study plan.

VARIATION OF THE STANDARD STUDY PLAN

To submit an individual study plan different from the standard one, students must contact the Student Secretariat help desks.

For information, consult the page: https://www.unisannio.it/it/studente/studente-iscritto/variazione-piano-studi

The plan prepared by the student will be submitted for approval to the Degree Programme Board, which decides taking into account the student’s cultural education needs and professional preparation. The Degree Programme Board issues its decision within 60 days from submission of the form. The interested party will be informed of the decision.

Students whose proposed modification to the study plan is not approved will be informed of any changes made by the competent teaching structures.

Please note that, if the student does not intend to accept the study plan as modified, they must notify the Student Secretariat in writing by registered mail within 15 days from the date of receipt of the plan, or appear in person at the Student Secretariat help desks to add to the plan a note of non-acceptance.

In this case, the student:

  • must follow the standard study plan if enrolled in the first year;
  • must follow the last approved study plan if enrolled in years after the first or if out of course.

Exams taken by the student that are not included in their study plan are automatically cancelled by the Student Secretariat.
