Study plan

At the time of enrolment, the student is automatically assigned the standard study plan drawn up by the Degree Programme Council in accordance with the statutes, regulations, and the provisions relating to the academic system.

The standard study plan outlines the list of educational activities that students must attend and pass in order to be admitted to the final degree examination.

The educational activities included in the study plan are as follows:

  • compulsory courses
  • guidance/orientation courses
  • free-choice courses
  • pass/fail qualification tests
  • internship/placement
  • final degree examination

COMPLETING THE STUDY PLAN

Completing the study plan requires adding the “FREE-CHOICE” courses.

These courses must be entered by the student into the study plan at the time of enrolment in the third year of the programme.

Specifically, the Degree Programme requires the inclusion of:

  • a total of 12 ECTS credits of free-choice courses — THROUGH THE ONLINE PROCEDURE IN ONE’S PERSONAL AREA, except in exceptional cases*;

The selection of “FREE-CHOICE” courses may be made, subject to authorisation by the Degree Programme Council, from among all courses offered within the student’s Department and/or the University, provided that they do not clearly duplicate teaching activities already included in the student’s study plan. Generally, courses from degree programmes at a higher or lower level are not eligible.

The Degree Programme Council has, in advance, identified a pool of courses defined as “automatically approved”, for which individual authorisation is not required.

These courses are visible and can be selected independently within one’s personal area through the online procedure. Once selected, they are automatically added to the study plan.

*For all other courses not included in the selected pool and therefore not visible within one’s personal area, prior authorisation by the relevant Degree Programme Council is required, which assesses the suitability of the proposed study plan.

In this case, the procedure is paper-based and involves completing the PPS form, to be sent by email to the Department’s Teaching Administrative Support Office at ufficio.protocollo@unisannio.it
These courses will appear in the student record/booklet once approved by the relevant Degree Programme Council.

Courses not included in, or not approved for, one’s study plan cannot be booked and therefore cannot be taken. For this reason, it is advisable to make choices in a timely manner, preferably before the courses are delivered.

SELECTION WINDOWS

There are two windows during which choices can be made:

  • first window: from 1 September 2025 to 15 November 2025;
  • second window: from 1 February 2026 to 15 April 2026.

Students may change their choices (for guidance/orientation courses and free-choice courses) within the same academic year, but only during the above windows and using the same procedures described earlier.

For completing the study plan, it is also possible to recognise credits earned in previous university careers.

Exams taken as part of Erasmus study plans and recognised by the relevant Degree Programme Council automatically amend the study plan.

CHANGES TO THE STANDARD STUDY PLAN

To submit an individual study plan different from the standard one, students must contact the Student Secretariat help desks.

For information, please consult the dedicated page on the University website.

The plan prepared by the student will be submitted for approval to the Degree Programme Council, which decides taking into account the student’s cultural education needs and professional preparation. The Degree Programme Council will decide within 60 days of receiving the form. The applicant will be notified of the decision.

Students whose request to change the study plan is not approved will be informed of any changes made by the competent academic bodies. Please note that, if the student does not intend to accept the study plan as modified, they must notify the Student Secretariat in writing, by registered letter, within 15 days of receiving the plan, or appear in person at the Student Secretariat help desks to add to the plan an explicit note of non-acceptance. In this case, the student:

  • must follow the standard study plan if enrolled in the first year;
  • must follow the most recently approved study plan if enrolled in years after the first or if out of course.

Exams taken by the student that are not included in their study plan are automatically annulled by the Student Secretariat.
