His scientific activity, evidenced by more than 100 scientific publications, is focused on the study and characterization of materials of the historical built (stones, mortars, plasters) and archaeological finds (ceramics, metals, pigments), boasts collaborations with research institutions at national and international level. He also conducts research on alkaline volcanic rocks of the Plio-Quaternary Campanian Volcanic Province (Ischia, Campi Flegrei and Somma-Vesuvius), Cretaceous magmatism of the Italian peninsula and Cenozoic igneous rocks of Madagascar.
