Celestino Grifa

Associate Professor at the Department of Science and Technology (DST) for the Scientific Disciplinary Sector GEO/07 - Petrology and Petrography.

Member of the Scientific Council of the Interuniversity Research Center CRACS (Center for Research in Archaeometry and Conservation Science) between the University of Sannio and the University Federico II of Naples.

Member of the Board of Directors of the University of Sannio. 

Member of the Board of Directors of AIAr (Italian Association of Archaeometry) with the role of Treasurer.

Member of the Board of Teachers of the Doctoral Program in Science and Technology for the Environment and Health (STAS) and the National Doctoral Program "Heritage Science" with administrative headquarters the University La sapienza of Rome.

Responsible for the Laboratory of Optical and Electronic Microscopy of the DST.

His scientific activity, evidenced by more than 100 scientific publications, is focused on the study and characterization of materials of the historical built (stones, mortars, plasters) and archaeological finds (ceramics, metals, pigments), boasts collaborations with research institutions at national and international level. He also conducts research on alkaline volcanic rocks of the Plio-Quaternary Campanian Volcanic Province (Ischia, Campi Flegrei and Somma-Vesuvius), Cretaceous magmatism of the Italian peninsula and Cenozoic igneous rocks of Madagascar.
