Gerardo Canfora
Professore Ordinario

Gerardo Canfora is a professor of computer science at the School of Engineering of the University of Sannio, Italy. From November 2019 he is the Rector of the University.

Gerardo Canfora is the co-author of 200 referred journal and conference research papers; his research interest include software maintenance and evolution, empirical software engineering, service oriented software engineering, software security and privacy, pervasive systems. See for a selection of his publications On these themes, he has participated and leaded numerous research projects in collaboration with national and international research institutes and companies. 

He serves on the program and organizing committees of a number of international conferences. He was general chair of WCRE’06 and CSMR’03, and program co-chair of ICSE’15, WETSoM’12 and ’10, ICSM’01 and ’07, IWPSE’05, CSMR’04 and IWPC’97.

Gerardo Canfora has worked as a consultant for ICT companies and public administration; he has served as a reviewer for many national and international funding agencies. He has helped numerous public administratins (Regione Campania, Provincia di Benevento, Provincia di Avellino, Archivio di Stato di Catania, ASL Benevento 1, ASI Palermo) in their technology innovation projects.

Gaetano Continillo
Professore Ordinario

Gaetano Continillo is Professor of Chemical Process Engineering at the Department of Engineering, Università del Sannio, Benevento, Italy, and Associate Researcher at Istituto Motori CNR, Naples, Italy. From 1998 to 2003 he has served as Associate Professor on the same institution. From 1985 to 1998 he has been affiliated with CNR at the Istituto di Ricerche sulla Combustione in Naples, Italy. From 2007 to 2011 he has been three times Visiting Professor at Université d’Orléans, France. From 1986 to 1988 he has spent 19 months at the University of California Irvine, USA, working on the numerical modelling of the combustion of droplets and sprays. In 1987 he received the Doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering from Università Federico II, Naples, Italy. His research interests fall in the field of analysis, simulation and dynamics of reactive systems. He is author or co-author of more than one hundred fifty between journal and conference papers, mostly international. He has been President of the Board of Directors of the Institute for the Dynamics of Explosions and Reactive Systems; Fellow of the Institute of Physics and Chartered Physicist; Head, Joint Graduate Program in Energy Engineering, Universita del Sannio, Benevento, Italy and Università Federico II, Napoli, Italy. He is currently Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal “Combustion Theory and Modelling”.

Responsible for the Document Management System and Strategic Planning of the Department DEMM, with the following tasks: a) planning, construction and coordination of the strategic documents; b) integration with the University’s strategic plan; c) data collection and processing; d) editorial support.
Responsible for Quality Assurance and Member of the working group on monitoring activities of the Law Degree Course.
Member of the Steering Committee of the Law Degree Course.
In the past, Delegate for the Orientation activities and Member of the Research Committee of the Department DEMM (2016-2019).
Author of many scientific publications.

Carmine Guarino
Professore Associato

Associate Professor of Plant Biology and Systematics. Enabled in Band I competition sector 05 / A1 -Botany. Delegate to the Third Mission for the Department of Sciences and Technologies. He is a member of the Academic Board of the Doctorate in Sciences and Technologies for the Environment and Health at the Department of Sciences and Technologies.

He was a coordinating member of the Technical-Scientific Commission of the Ministry of the Environment for the evaluation of environmental protection and remediation projects (C.T.S.). Member of the National Committee for the Conservation of Parks, Gardens and Historic Landscapes at the Ministry of Cultural and Environmental Heritage. Scientific coordinator of the Commission (called by the Ministry for Activities and Cultural Heritage) for the Special Tender Specifications for the Restoration and Maintenance Works of Historical Parks and Gardens. Appointed by the Ministry of Education, University and Research in the committee for the evaluation of the project proposals submitted in the context of the calls for proposals for Industrial Innovation Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Mobility projects at the Ministry of Economic Development. Vice-president of the World Road Association (APIARC) Technical Committee for the period 2016-2019 (ANAS spa) for environmental impact assessments. Scientific coordinator for the environmental and naturalistic evaluation of the landscape insertions for the High Speed ​​Railway consortia and naturalistic restoration of the interfered works. Scientific consultant for the design of pilot plants for bioremediation of sites of national interest (SIN) owned by ENI-SYNDIAL. Scientific responsible of the "Experimentation project of phyto-bioremediation technologies for SIN Bagnoli-Coroglio" on behalf of INVITALIA implementing entity.

In recent years, research activities refer to the experimentation of innovative biotechnologies for the smoothing of polluted matrices (soil, water and air) at full scale. In particular, the natural associations between plants, fungi and bacteria are investigated from a molecular, biochemical and structural perspective to enhance biotechnological purposes. The team has reclaimed and provided scientific advice internationally. Author of about 80 publications. Reviewer of numerous international journals, Member of the Agronomy Editorial Board. Scientific coordinator of numerous peer research projects and specialist consultancy of national and international importance commissioned by primary institutes for the sectors of environmental remediation, environmental assessment and environmental monitoring.

Roberta Mongillo

She studied Law at University L.U.I.S.S. Guido Carli in Rome and graduated in four years, summa cum laude and honour of publication, with a thesis in Civil Law. In 2003 she passed the National Bar Exam and became a Lawyer. In 2005 she got the PhD degree in “I problemi civilistici della persona”, at University of Sannio, in Benevento. Since 1st February 2005 she is Assistant Professor of Business Law at University of Sannio. She obtained the First and the Second National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor of Private law, in 2013 and in 2016. From 2016 to 2019 she served as member of the Academic Senate of the University of Sannio. In 2018 she obtained the National Scientific Qualification as Full Professor in Private Law. She currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the University of Sannio (since 2020).

Paola De Nigris
Personale Tecnico Amministrativo

Paola De Nigris has been in the Administrative Staff of the Sannio’s University since 2008. She’s employed in the  "Educational Offer Assistance" Unit that is mainly focused on  managing processes relating to the creation and update of University Educational Offer, on the control over the needed requirements to activate and run the University courses and on the maintainance of the National Student Register. 

She is ESSE3 Key User for Didactic Management and Educational Offer activities.

Member of the Directive Board of Employees’ Recreation and Leisure association of Sannio’s University, working as Treasurer from March 2016 to March 2019.

Member of the Quality Presidium from may 2013 to June 2018.

Member of the Working Group for the drafting  of Sannio’s University’s Didactic Regulations. 

Member of the Examining Commission for the 
welfare assistance to technical and administrative staff of University of Sannio, from October 2010 to September
2014 (evaluating refunds for events occurred in years 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012). 

She has many years of field experience in project management. Her areas of expertise include fund raising, drafting, submission, implementation, monitoring and accounting of EU, National and Regional projects.
