M4DConf 2025: Metrologia e Trasformazione Digitale per un Futuro Innovativo

The second edition of the International Conference on Metrology and Digital Transformation (M4DConf 2025) opened on 3 September at the Sant’Agostino Complex of the University of Sannio and will run until 5 September.
The event confirms its role as an international benchmark for research in the field of metrology applied to digital transformation, bringing together institutions, academics and professionals from over 36 countries.
At the heart of the discussions are the challenges of metrological traceability and digitalisation, sensor network metrology, digital legal metrology, digitalisation of the International System of Units, digital infrastructures and emerging technologies.
The conference is structured around three main themes: Metrology, digitalisation and artificial intelligence for the common good, Digital sustainability and Technological inclusion.
The programme includes over twenty-five sessions featuring keynotes, tutorials, round tables and discussion panels, with contributions from internationally renowned speakers. Among the most anticipated presentations are:
Professor Frank Härtig, Vice-President of the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt in Berlin, who will present developments in digital quality infrastructures and traceable artificial intelligence; Sundeep Bhandari, from the National Physical Laboratory in the United Kingdom, who will address the topic of trust and transparency in artificial intelligence; Professor Luca Mari, from LIUC – Università Cattaneo in Castellanza, who will explore the foundational concepts of measurement within the framework of a formal ontology.
M4DConf 2025 is not just a conference but a laboratory of ideas aimed at building a fairer, more inclusive and more sustainable future through technology. With over one hundred participants expected, the event will offer unique opportunities for dialogue and collaboration, fostering the exchange of knowledge and expertise in a truly global setting.
“Metrology is the universal language that ensures trust and precision in digital innovation,” emphasised Professor Ioan Tudosa, researcher in the Department of Engineering at the University of Sannio and organiser of the event. “M4DConf 2025 will be an opportunity to define the role of technology in the service of society.”
