UNISANNIO expands the no-tax area and introduces merit-based awards

The University of Sannio is strengthening its commitment to the right to education with two important new measures that will come into force starting from the next academic year. The Board of Directors has approved an increase in the no-tax area from €28,000 to €30,000 in the university ISEE, thereby expanding the number of students eligible for full exemption from paying university fees.

Alongside strengthening financial support measures, the University is introducing a new system of merit-based incentives to recognise academic achievement and support students throughout their studies.

The benefits are intended for students who achieve outstanding academic results before entering university and for those who continue their academic careers regularly and successfully, in compliance with the requirements set out in the University's calls for applications.

Particular attention is given to students from areas located farther from the campus where their degree programme is held, with a view to facilitating access to the University of Sannio’s educational offering. These measures also extend to international students and those who obtained their qualifications abroad. This framework also includes specific measures, such as contributions for transport, psychological well-being, and accommodation, as well as strengthening services for students with specific learning disorders and special educational needs, with the aim of ensuring equal opportunities for access, attendance, and full participation in university life.

“This measure,” states Rector Maria Moreno, “is part of a strategy aimed at making our University increasingly inclusive, accessible and attentive to the needs of families, in the belief that the right to education represents a fundamental investment in the future of the local area and of new generations. We want to ensure that no one gives up their studies for economic reasons and, at the same time, we wish to reward commitment and the quality of educational pathways. An inclusive university is also a university capable of recognising and enhancing merit.”

Students also benefit from the Youth Fund's resources, financed by the Ministry of University and Research as part of the Ordinary Financing Fund. The programme supports initiatives aimed at tutoring, international mobility, and strengthening educational pathways in STEAM degree classes — Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Engineering, and Statistics.

Within the framework of these same resources, specific funding is also allocated to the Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Geological Sciences and to the Master’s Degree Programme in Geotechnologies for Resources, the Environment and Risks. This funding will enable enhancements to teaching, laboratory, orientation, and tutoring activities, while promoting a strategic sector for land protection, environmental sustainability, and the prevention of natural hazards.

Through this set of initiatives, the University of Sannio is reinforcing a policy aimed at ensuring equal access opportunities, recognising merit, and making the local area increasingly attractive to new generations.
