Unisannio know-how lands in Norway

Norway calls Italy. The Vestfold County Higher Secondary Education institution, a sort of regional education authority, has entrusted Unisannio researchers with the task of studying mathematical models for the development of an innovative software system for the management of privatist oral exams.

The group of researchers who worked on the project is composed by prof. Carlo Mannino, SINTEF Digital and University of Oslo, prof. Pasquale Avella, of the Department of Engineering of the University of Sannio, by prof. Maurizio Boccia, of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of the University of Naples "Federico II", former Unisannio researcher, and by system analyst Sandro Viglione, of the Department of Engineering of the University of Sannio.

The ultimate goal is to develop an exam planning system prototype that allows defining student groups for each session, and assigning to each session a classroom compatible with the type of exam, a date and two commissioners of exam, selected from a subset of available lecturers. The trial involved the assignment of about 2000 exams over a four-week period.

Clients are satisfied and they wish to extend the system to other areas, such as the development of mathematical models and algorithms for the automatic processing of lesson times.
