Privacy Policy - UNISANNIO Comunica

This policy describes how personal data is processed in the UNISANNIO Comunica mobile application ("the App"), provided by the University of Sannio (Università degli Studi del Sannio) ("the Controller"), in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).

In short

The App is anonymous: no registration is required and we do not collect your name, e‑mail, phone number, location, or any other directly identifying information. The App only displays the University's notices, events, and communications and, if you choose, sends you the related push notifications.

Data we process

Solely to operate the App, we process:

  • Anonymous device identifier — a random code (UUID) generated and stored on your device, used to recognise the installation without identifying you.
  • Push notification token — provided by Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google), required to deliver notifications.
  • Operating system and app version (e.g. iOS/Android) — for correct operation and technical support.
  • Device language (Italian/English) — to show content and notifications in the appropriate language.
  • Notification preferences — the topics and content types you choose to receive notifications for, linked to the anonymous identifier.

We do not process: identity data, credentials, location, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers. The App does not profile users, does not track you across other apps or websites, and uses no third‑party advertising or analytics tools.

Purposes and legal bases

  • Operating the App and delivering content — Performance of a task in the public interest (Art. 6(1)(e)) / legitimate interest in informing the university community (Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • Sending push notifications — Your consent, given via the operating system's notification permission (Art. 6(1)(a)).
  • Managing notification preferences — Performance of your request (Art. 6(1)(a)/(b)).

Content

The notices, events, and communications shown in the App come from the University's official website (public content). The App does not collect user‑generated content.

Third parties (processors)

  • Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging) — used solely to deliver push notifications. The notification token and notification content pass through Google's infrastructure. Google's notice: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
  • Apple / Google (App Store / Google Play) — App distribution, under their respective policies.

Data is not shared with or sold to third parties for commercial purposes.

Retention

Data associated with the device is kept while the App remains installed and in use. Notification tokens that are no longer valid are removed automatically. If you uninstall the App, the anonymous identifier stored on the device is lost and any residual server‑side data can no longer be linked to you.

Your rights

To the extent the data relates to an identifiable person, you may exercise the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, and objection (Arts. 15–22 GDPR) by writing to [contact email] or the DPO. Because the App is anonymous, the most immediate way to stop all processing is to uninstall the App and/or turn off notifications in your device settings. You may also lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).

Children

The App is intended for the university community and is not directed at children below the age set by applicable national law; we do not knowingly collect children's data.

Security

Communication between the App and the server uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Only the minimum data necessary to operate the App is processed.

This policy may be updated. The current version is always available at [policy URL].
