HIMASS International School 2026
From 25 August to 6 September 2026, Benevento will host the HIMASS International School, an initiative dedicated to the study, conservation, and enhancement of masonry structures and architectural heritage.
As part of the initiative, a Civil Engineering Summer School for upper secondary school students will also take place from 28 to 30 August.
The main scheduled events include:
- Tuesday, 25 August, 9:00 a.m. – Opening ceremony of the HIMASS School at the conference hall of the “F. Pacca” Chapter and Archiepiscopal Library, entrance from Piazza Orsini 27.
- Friday, 28 August, 10:00 a.m. – Opening of the Civil Engineering Summer School at the Sant’Agostino complex, Room 53S.
- Saturday, 29 August, and Sunday, 30 August, in the morning – Practical workshops at LInC. Students from both schools, supervised by tutors, lecturers, and Spanish master mason Carlos Martín, will construct scale masonry structures and a medium-scale masonry vault.
- Friday, 4 September, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – Public celebration at the Sant’Agostino Auditorium. During the event, representatives of Europa Nostra will formally present the School with the European Heritage Award / Europa Nostra Award. A buffet reception will follow in the church cloister.
- Saturday, 5 September, in the morning – Closing event, featuring the presentation of the projects developed by the students attending the main School. The venue will be announced at a later date.
The HIMASS School provides an important opportunity for advanced training, international exchange, and student engagement in traditional construction techniques and the conservation of architectural heritage.
