On March 20, 2026, as part of the national initiative “Università Svelate”, the University of Sannio will open its doors to the city with “EUREKA! Research–Art–History–Innovation”, a program of public outreach activities that will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Sant’Agostino Complex and the LINC Engineering Laboratory.
The initiative aims to make the University’s research activities visible through talks, scientific demonstrations, installations, and artistic moments.

The event is inspired by an episode that occurred in Benevento in 1903, when, during the opening of a passage in the walls of Sant’Agostino, numerous ancient artifacts were uncovered. These finds are now preserved in the egyptian section of the Museo del Sannio. That moment marked a turning point in the study of the city’s history, transforming a practical intervention into a genuine archaeological discovery. From this symbolic image emerges EUREKA!, which invites reflection on how research often begins with an unexpected “opening” between past and present.

The program includes talks and activities dedicated to the history of the Arch of Trajan, Egyptian Blue, the topography of Roman Benevento, the production of an animated short film about the 1903 discovery, and immersive experiences of the Sant’Agostino Digital Museum (S’ADIM) developed in collaboration with FAI.

Among the highlights is the presentation of three-dimensional reproductions of Egyptian artifacts, created using digital technologies in collaboration with CeRICT and MAIA Ingegneria, which will also bring several 3D-printed replicas of the artifacts.

The initiative will also involve local schools, with the aim of bringing students and the wider community closer to the themes of research and innovation.
