Research Projects and PNRR
Le iniziative dell'Ateneo per il PNNR
The University of Sannio actively participates in Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP – PNRR). In line with the Plan’s strategic objectives, the University is involved in initiatives aimed at strengthening the research system, promoting technological innovation and sustainability, and enhancing advanced education and knowledge transfer to industry.
The University of Sannio has secured funding through PRIN and PRIN PNRR calls for proposals, supporting projects across the three main scientific domains: SH (Social Sciences and Humanities), PE (Physical Sciences and Engineering) and LS (Life Sciences). These projects are characterised by high scientific quality and a multidisciplinary approach and address strategically important topics, ranging from the digital and environmental transitions to the development of innovative solutions in health, engineering, the social sciences and economics.
The University also participates in so-called “cascade funding calls”, through which organisations leading PNRR projects already funded by the European Commission allocate part of the funding received to other organisations by issuing open calls for proposals. The beneficiaries of the original funding therefore manage the allocated resources and distribute them to third parties through competitive selection procedures.
This funding mechanism has enabled the University of Sannio to support collaborative research projects and strengthen synergies with the local area, the business community and other research institutions. Participation in cascade funding calls represents an important opportunity to broaden the scientific and technological impact of the University’s research activities and to foster the development of effective regional and national innovation networks.
