Degree Program Council

Each Degree Program Council performs the following functions:

a) Oversees teaching activities and ensures their proper execution;
b) Submits the academic program (course catalogue) for bachelor's and master’s degree programs under its responsibility to the Department Council;
c) Makes proposals, in accordance with the law, the University’s Academic Regulations, and the Department’s Regulations, regarding all acts governing and regulating the teaching of its degree programs;
d) Acquires the opinion of the Joint Teaching Committee on the consistency between the credits assigned to educational activities and their learning objectives;
e) Proposes the signing of teaching contracts, either paid or unpaid, to meet specific educational needs, including supplementary teaching;
f) Proposes to the Department Council how to allocate resources intended to support and incentivize teaching;
g) Proposes to the Department Council the assignment of teaching loads;
h) Organizes and manages the teaching activities of the programs, fulfilling all commitments and obligations set by the applicable regulations;
i) Collaborates in improving the teaching evaluation procedures;
j) Approves students' study plans and manages all aspects related to their academic progress;
k) Ensures coordination of the educational objectives of all teaching, tutoring, guidance, and internationalization activities;
l) Takes all necessary actions to improve the quality of the courses;
m) Performs other duties explicitly assigned by the Statute, regulations, and applicable legislation;
n) Provides opinions to the Department Council regarding the initiation of comparative evaluation procedures for the recruitment of full and associate professors, and the activation of selection procedures for contracts under Article 24, paragraph 1, of Law No. 240 of December 30, 2010.
