Director of the Department of Science and Technology (DST)
The Director of the Department of Science and Technology (DST) is Professor Pasquale Vito, serving for the 2022–2025 term.
He holds a degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Naples Federico II and has been a post-doctoral fellow and visiting scientist at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, USA (1993–1996); Principal Investigator at the Basel Institute for Immunology, Switzerland (1997–2001); and Group Leader at the Biogem Institute of Genetic Research (2001–2014).
Since 2003, he has been an Associate Professor of Genetics at the University of Sannio, where he teaches Genetics in both the Biotechnology Bachelor’s program and the Biology Master’s program.
Since 2017, he has chaired the Joint Degree Program Council for Biological Sciences (L-13) and Biology (LM-6), and he is the Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology. In 2017, he founded and became the Scientific Director of the university spin-off Genus Biotech.
His scientific research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of inflammatory and immunoproliferative responses and on immunogenetic diagnostics, which are the subject of around 60 scientific publications, over half of which he authored as the corresponding author.
