My research focuses on Computational Electromagnetism, specifically targeting the design and simulation of resistive magnets for particle accelerators and magnetic-confinement fusion reactors. A primary area of investigation is the design and optimization of the Magnetised Tracking Calorimeter (MTC) magnet for the SHiP experiment. This process involves conducting 2D and 3D magnetostatic simulations, supported by parametric studies and data post-processing to achieve material and geometry optimization.
Furthermore, the research explores advanced numerical techniques for solving complex electromagnetic problems. This includes the application of FEM and BEM methods, alongside the development of mesh-free computational approaches. Specifically, techniques such as equivalent magnetic dipoles, equivalent currents, and multipole series expansions are investigated to model and compute DC stray magnetic fields.
