Valentina De Vito holds a Master's Degree in Medical Systems Engineering, specializing in Bioengineering, from the Polytechnic University of Bari. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Information Technologies for Engineering at the University of Sannio. Her research focuses on the development and application of fiber-optic technologies for biomedical applications, particularly in the fields of optical diagnostics and neural stimulation.
One of her main research activities involves fluorescence spectroscopy for brain tumor detection, with particular attention to glioblastoma. This work focuses on detecting and analyzing fluorescence signals. The aim is to investigate the potential of fluorescence-based techniques to distinguish tumor tissue from healthy tissue and support more accurate tumor identification. Another important area of her research is Infrared Neural Stimulation (INS), which explores the use of infrared light delivered through optical fibers to stimulate peripheral nerves in amputee patients using prosthetic limbs. This approach aims to develop alternative stimulation strategies for restoring sensory feedback and improving the interaction between prosthetic devices and the nervous system.
